Why I wrote this book
This is a book about the highest levels of presence and peak performance leadership, and the cultures that ensue from them, in which well-being, results and contribution to the world are naturally interwoven.
It is above all a call:
1. To recognise and break from the chronically imbalanced ways of thinking and functioning that have become the norm in so many corporate cultures, where doing eclipses being, and hyper-rational, analytical thinking relegates feeling, sensing, intuiting and the transpersonal to the outer fringes of life.
2. To understand that to face the scope and threats of 21st-century challenges, today’s leaders must possess potent powers for logic, reason, discernment and strategic forecasting. Yet, they must also be empathic and therefore embodied; grounded and therefore intuitive. They must be skilled in mindfulness and deep listening; present and receptive to higher levels of insight and innovation; able to inspire authentic engagement and collaboration; and possess a clear and wholehearted sense of service, mission and purpose.
I call this leader the Leader as Healer.

The Leader as Healer repairs the disconnection between being and doing, dissolving fragmentation and the struggle of polarisation by integrating the two fundamental modalities. First within ourselves, and then in and with the people we lead. Through this, we achieve much deeper unity and coherence. By bringing mind, body and heart to all we do, we access far more advanced responses to problems, challenges and opportunities. And we become able to access and operate from a much larger field of intelligence.

Emotions are the gateway to our deeper humanity. Connecting more consciously with our feeling states allows us a richer, more heartfelt and empathic relationship to life and to leadership. This in turn heightens energy and connectedness, which provide the foundation for higher levels of perception, vision, insight and innovation. The Call
To recognise the extent to which we have normalised functioning in such a small version of ourselves and reality. To awaken to the game-changing practice of bringing all of ourselves to the table. To show up as Presence. Body, heart, mind and soul as a coherent unity. We have incredible technologies to aid us, but now we need equivalent development in consciousness. If we are to meet the systemic challenges and ecological crises of our time, if we are to enable our organizations to both thrive and contribute to society, our emotional, ethical and spiritual selves must also rise and grow.
New and higher leadership capacities are possible, available and urgently needed, to steward ourselves, our families, our organizations and our societies towards a healthier, more vibrant future for all.
